Fund Raising To achieve its aim of funding projects on Peak Rail a range of activities take place. The running of the PRA takes a considerable amount of money. This includes its website, Annual General Meeting, Magazine / newsletters and membership subscription renewals. All remaining income is spent on projects supporting Peak Rail.
The Branches The 5 branches also run their own fund raising activities. Long standing amongst these is the 100 Club run by the Sheffield branch. The Branches attend events, such as Model Railway Exhibitions, with display boards promoting Peak Rail activities and encouraging membership of the PRA along with volunteering. Sales stands are another important part of attending these events. Funds are raised at Branch meetings through donations and raffles.
Annual Raffle The PRA also holds an annual raffle with a specific project as the focus. Raffle tickets are posted out with Peak Express to all members. They are also sold on Peak Rail trains especially at Special Events such as the very popular Santa Specials.
100 Club The Friends of Peak Rail 100 Club was created in 1986 to raise funds for Peak Railway Society, which became Peak Rail Association. It is a Small Lottery licensed by Sheffield City Council. Currently there are 341 member entries and draws take place quarterly at Sheffield Branch meetings. Five Prizes are awarded at each draw valued at 50% of entries, with the recent First Prize of £255.75. The remainder less expenses is donated to Peak Rail Association. The 100 Club has donated over £47,000 in its 35 years.
